My Education
I have a BA from awesome little Shimer College and an MA in Philosophy from Fordham University in the Bronx. Yes, you read that correctly, Philosophy in the Bronx. Sitting up all night with Heidegger, Wittgenstein, and Aristotle for months on end isn’t all that different than being a DBA, trust me. And the next time you’re in NYC, visit Arthur Avenue in the Bronx if you like Italian food.
I didn’t learn a single thing about database administration in my undergraduate education, and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I received the most interesting, fantastic education possible. Please visit my Shimer College page for more information. Go on, check it out. Now. No, I really mean it.
My Professional Certifications
I hold the following certifications. Read my post on certifications for my thoughts on certifications and related links.
Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
Database Developer 2008
Database Administrator 2008
Database Administrator 2005
Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS)
SQL Server 2008, Database Development
SQL Server 2008, Implementation and Maintenance
SQL Server 2005
Other Stuff, and Stuff
I am a fan of Grand Prix Motorcycle racing (“MotoGP“, particularly this year’s Team Texas– Colin Edwards and Ben Spies. If you’ve never seen MotoGP racing, it’s great fun, both on TV and in person.
When not geeking out or watching people ride motorcycles, I like to draw and I read a lot. And I have a giant rabbit.
